The main Butternut Creek site is located just west of Moose Creek. It takes its name from a small creek which flows through the property.
This site is 130 acres, much of which is good soil. It was homesteaded in 1870, and operated as a dairy farm by the Johnson family for more than a hundred years. In the eighties it was purchased by the Warnock family, which used it as a horse farm, but began its rewilding.
In 2023, Jeanie Warnock purchased the property from her parents’ estate and started the Butternut Creek project.
