Butternut Creek Nature Reserve is a social enterprise located on a farm in Eastern Ontario. Our goal is to protect biodiversity in this part of Canada.
Located on the traditional, overlapping territories of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, including the Five Nations of the St. Lawrence watershed, as well as the Huron-Wendat and Algonquin Anishinaabe Peoples of the Ottawa River Valley, the site is home to a variety of at-risk and endangered species, including snapping turtles, barn swallows, bobolinks, and meadowlarks. The reserve is being rewilded and restored to its natural state, and is committed to promoting environmental education and conservation efforts in the region.
