🐸 Spring Peeper Chorus & Frog Count – April 26, 6–8 p.m.
As dusk falls, the wetlands come alive. Join us to hear the remarkable chorus of spring frogs and help count egg clumps and calling amphibian species. This family-friendly event offers a wonderful introduction to frogs and the role they play in healthy ecosystems.
🐦 International Dawn Chorus Day – May 3, 6 a.m.
Celebrate the arrival of spring birds as they prepare to nest by experiencing the extraordinary dawn chorus. Learn to recognize some of the voices of the season as the natural world resonates with birdsong.
🐦 Global Big Day Bird Walk – May 9, 7–10 a.m.
Join us for a special bird walk as part of the worldwide eBird Global Big Day. Help identify and record resident and migrating birds and contribute to Citizen Science’s work to monitor bird populations. A light breakfast will be provided.
🌿 Friday Nature Walks – April through September, 7–8 p.m.
Enjoy the sounds, smells and sights of twilight in the fields and wetland of Butternut Creek.. Held the third Friday of each month (May’s walk will be on May 22). A chance to slow down, breathe deeply, and observe the seasonal changes of nature.
🦋 Moth Count – July 25, dusk to midnight
Discover the fascinating nighttime world of moths. Using lights to attract them, we will observe and identify species and contribute our findings to community science.
🎨 Second Annual Eco Art Day – September 27
Nature inspires creativity. Eco Art Day invites children and adults to explore artistic expression using natural materials and themes from the landscape around us. Create art that can return to nature!
